Situated in Sainte-Foy-La-Grande near Bordeaux, Château Pré la Lande is run by Michel Baucé who was one of the very first winemaker to move to biodynamic agriculture in the region, way before it became commonly accepted. Originally considered a “poor” location by generation of winemakers, Michel Baucé saw something different in what locals called the “Landa” (poor land) and turn it into a beautiful heaven where vines grow wonderfully well and live in harmony with endemic fauna and flora; hence the name “Pré la Lande”.
Michel Baucé works the soils to the strict minimum and protects the vines with herbal teas, decoctions and liquid manures from different plants. Least but not last, all of the work in both vineyard and cellar are schedules depending on the lunar calendar. The result of Michel Baucé high dedication to its vineyard is stunning: not only the wines are elegant, fresh and well structured, they are also full of life and emotions. Simply one of the biggest surprises we had in the Bordeaux area these last years; a vineyard that cannot be slept on!
