Situated in Puy Notre Dame, le Manoir de la Tête Rouge is facing the majestic 11th century church that gives its name to the village. Guillaume, the winemaker (see photo above), doesn’t use synthetic chemicals, respects and protects the ecosystems of each of his plots so as to give his wines the best of this amazing terroir.
Today, yields are very regular and the soil has never been in better condition. The return of many species of plants and insects contribute significantly to the balance of the land. The vineyard has been rejuvenated with new plantations of 30 ares of Pineau d’Aunis, a grape variety which had been forgotten and denigrated in the Saumur region. By working the soil of the vineyard, respecting the balance of fauna and flora, and refusing to use industrial yeast and miracle wine products, he made it possible to produce wines that are a true expression of Saumur. All wines are made in line with sensible, traditional and, above all, sustainable agricultural practices.
